I had cosmetic surgery late 2023 at Gangwhoo. I had booked dental work at East Rose Dental - thoroughly recommend, btw. As I had free time & was concerned about my aged appearance, after reading reviews, I found myself at Gangwhoo hospital. The initial price was great though the head interpreter (K* D****) is a bit of a snake oil merchant. I'm an aussie so my figures are based in AUD. What really worried me before the procedure was having to sign & write word for word, I would not write a bad review or say anthing bad about Gangwhoo online. I was really surprised when I saw your blog thinking... wow, you're really gutsy for doing this. I had upper & lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), face & neck lift. Around $9k aud. Then $200 for medical tests. Their 'twilight sedation' was a joke. The anaesthetist put a shot of something into IV line and left. I complained I was in a state of panic and it wasn't like sedations at East Rose Dental, where the anaesthetist stayed the whole time to top you up. I felt pain and strongly voiced my concerns. They came back with the dental sedation, but again, not great. It was agreed the rest of the procedure would be under General anaesthetic. An extra $660 aud. One of the interpreters gave me a heads up there would be some heavy sales pitch after the surgery to buy things that I probably didn't need. Nearly fell over flat at the price of the face & chin support. Paid say $120 AUD for something I can purchase online $20 aud. There was a horrible syrup x 3 bottles I found no evidence to reduce bruising at all. The scar gel was an awful bright yellow. I can't recall the price of the syrup & scar gel. I wasn't told after the general anaesthetic I would be staying overnight. I had a lovely interpreter who had to sleep over too. But I was in a lot of pain with the facemask they provide after surgery so tight, the bed was hard and uncomfortable. I called for pain relief and this nurse just jammed the relief into the IV line, causing more pain. The interpreters changed in the morning and I had this awful fellow called V*****. He had zero care about my needs. I was moved to another room and truly felt they forgot I was there. I ended up insisting they let me go around 4pm. I could barely see with the padding under my eyes and felt so miserable. I went back a few times with worries about swelling, then had the stitches removed on the day I flew back to Australia. I contacted K* D**** on Messenger from Australia, after I was healing, to say I had hair growing out above my left ear where it shouldn't be growing. I was told I should just shave it off. Nice. After I went off at him, he told me to come back and see Dr. Cuong. I have to also say, I thought cosmetic surgery would be better in Thailand.  I had surgery at Asia Cosmetic Hospital for a forehead lift. They make Gangwhoo look like superstars. At least at Gangwhoo, when you have a general anaesthetic, it's in an operating theatre. I did see someone having dental work, but there were only 2 chairs in a small windowed room. I was so very thankful I didn't choose them for dental.

ADMIN’S NOTE

I was also subjected to the heavy sales tactics.  They tried to sell me 6 bottles of the bruising syrup for $170AUD (Gadema). I ended up buying 3 of them which I later regretted also because it did absolutely nothing.  Just before I left (after also spending 1 night at the hospital), the very same interpreter (V*****) noticed the side table next to my bed didn’t have a bottle of “birds nest” on it (whereas the others did).  Mind you this was the third room I was moved to and other patients were also in there.  Needless to say I was directly confronted and accused of taking it by V*****.  The bottle wasn’t in the bin and they wanted to search me and my personal belongings, of which I happily complied because in truth I didn’t even know what that bottle was, I never took notice of it and certainly didn’t take it.  After the search, they were convinced I wasn’t the “culprit”.  I thought about it afterwards and how rude that situation was.  If I had known what it was and wanted to drink it, I actually would have thought it was complimentary because why have them available on every side table?  Anyway it was probably another tactic for them to extract more money from unsuspecting patients who do drink it.  Regarding gangwhoo’s silly response to E*** to “just shave the hair”, for me what worked permanently for hair removal was blended electrolysis.  I had it done over 10 years ago for both dark and my light hairs and those areas are still hair free.  Also as E*** stated, patients are required to sign a waiver not to write a bad review.  On one of my visits, a lady next to me was approached by staff and they requested a positive video review to be recorded.  She complied, but when they left she confided in me that it was all rubbish, she didn’t actually mean what she said but only said it out of feeling pressured because she hadn’t actually completed her booked surgeries and worried about any come-back/bad surgery had she told them the truth.

Thankyou E*** for sharing your story and wishing you all the best on your cosmetic journey.
